Hydropower is the second largest source of renewable electricity in the USA, having been overtaken by wind in 2019. With a total installed capacity of over 100 GW, which produces 260 TWh of electricity per year, the USA is the third largest producer of hydropower in the world after Brazil and China, according to the International Hydropower Association.
