FKF generates its electricity from the Glomma river, the longest in Norway. With an installed capacity of 230 MW and an annual output of 1 265 GWh, it is one of Norway’s largest run-of-river hydro plants. It also meets the strict criteria set by the Swedish eco-label Bra Miljøval.
The oldest power station on the River Sog, Ljósifoss began producing power for the city of Reykjavik in 1937. The plant made it possible for homes to stop relying on burning coal for cooking and at the same time, geothermal began to replace heating in the capital.
The Pälli hydropower plant, completed in 1954, is located in Muhos. The plant is the fourth hydropower plant upstream in the Oulujoki river. Average annual production covers the annual electricity use of about 12,000 households with electric heat.
Friedenheim on the Crocodile River in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa, is a small 2.5 MW hydro power plant. It was installed in 1987 and registered with RECSA in 2010.
